Let’s come back to the past. There was no EMG and Gravity together, yet. How did it happen finally? To my mind, by small steps.

It’s early 2022….

Euro Media Group Strengthens its Outside Broadcast by Merging CTV and Telegenic into a Single Business Unit Serving Europe

There is a big shake-up in European television production with the news that Euro Media Group has brought together the two established British brands—CTV and Telegenic—under one name, EMG. This strategic step aims to rationalize the group’s organization and favor operational efficiency while strengthening the group’s position as leader of the European OB market.

CTV and Telegenic: the story of two British broadcasting icons.

CTV, or Creative Television, and Telegenic are two very well-renowned companies within the OB industry. Such a reputation has been gained over time, with both names being synonymous with professionalism combined with hi-end technology in a creative approach to live production.

CTV: A Leading Sports and Entertainment Broadcaster

CTV stood for Creative Television, but it won its name covering some of the most ambitious and prestigious live sports and entertainment programs in the UK. Specializing in the live broadcast of sports events from Premier League football through to tennis, CTV led the introduction into HD and then 4K, setting standards at the leading edge of large-scale UK television broadcasting.

Telegenic: Leading in Technical Innovation

Telegenic had also vividly prevailed in the British broadcast sector, majorly covering sport and entertainment events. Leading the way of innovative technologies, Telegenic kept first in line to launch standards such as 3D and 4K. The company established a good reputation for world-class live coverage in such events as the PGA Tour or the Premier League, drawing wide attention because of the quality and creative use of technology.

Merging these two, namely CTV and Telegenic, under EMG provides the following key advantages:

    1.    Pooling of Resources Effectively

One of the big positives that underpin the unbundling of resources is higher flexibility in terms of technical and human resources management—what is meant by this headline is simply that with the sharing of expertise and experience, not least by CTV and Telegenic, business-wide infrastructure and technology can be used more effectively.

    2.    Improved Customer Experience

This single consolidated offering of today’s EMG clients is the value of quality of service provided from one source, thus allowing them to stage television productions more efficiently and professionally across Europe. With this integrated brand, there is one point of contact; therefore, it’s simpler, in every sense, to communicate and co-coordinate with the clients.

    3.    Investments in the Field of New Technologies

EMG is committed to continued investment in the most advanced technologies. Amongst others, both CTV and Telegenic bring advanced 4K and HDR production technology to the group and position EMG as a leader in global broadcast quality.

    4.    Better Market Position

The new brand cements its position in the outside broadcast market. With EMG, there are combined resources and experience from both CTV and Telegenic to take on more complex projects, as well as broadcast solutions for major sports events, concerts, and festivals around the world.

Future of EMG Following Consolidation

Coupled with the deep knowledge and resources of CTV and Telegenic, Euro Media Group will be oriented toward ambitious growth. With this consolidation, EMG will go for projects of even higher complexity, offering more value-added services across the European market. By absorbing British know-how, EMG is further reinforcing its foothold in the competitive outside broadcast industry. This addition of CTV and Telegenic further consolidates the range of services offered by Euro Media Group and cements the Group’s position as an increasingly key player in European television production. The new EMG brand is a guarantee: of quality, innovation, and international influence in the outside broadcast world.

To sum up…

It’s 2024, in the end, these smaller steps—bringing together CTV and Telegenic under the EMG umbrella—along with countless strategic moves, all paved the way for EMG’s eventual landmark merger with Gravity Media. This final step not only united two powerhouses in the broadcast and media production industry but also marked a new era, setting an unprecedented standard for global production excellence and innovation.
